There’s always peas involved in any scene of a movie where the parents make sure that their kids are eating their veggies. While it is fine to eat it steamed or boiled with some tasty protein as the main course, it is even more delicious when paired with Indian spices and flavors in a curry. Peas are a great source of vitamins and are good for your heart as well. Growing up, my aunt made this amazing peas curry which I used to devour with a plateful of chapatis (Indian flatbread) every time I went to India for my summer holidays. While this curry is not exactly the same as that, it does remind me of a bit of my childhood.

Peas masala curry
INGREDIENTS:
Peas-1 cup
Onion – 1/2
Minced garlic – 1tbsp
Salt
Pepper
Green chillies-7
Garam masala powder-1tbsp
Coriander powder-1tbsp
Red chili powder-1tbsp
Tomato paste-1.5tbsps
Oil
PREPARATION:
1)Heat oil on a pan. Add some sliced onions, minced garlic and finely chopped green chilies. Mix well. Add some salt and cook till the onions start to turn golden brown.
2)Then add the garam masala, coriander powder, pepper and red chili powder. Mix well and sauté for a few minutes. Then add some water and the tomato paste. You should have a tangy gravy right now. Let it cook at medium for a few minutes.
3)Then add the cup of peas to the mixture and let it cook at low to medium heat for about 25 minutes. Serve as shown. Enjoy! 🙂
Thanks for this, peas are one of my favorites, so I’ll definitely give this recipe a try.

I’m imagining that chick peas would work as well with that recipe. (that’s because I love my chickpeas.) Thanks for the idea.
